Community violence prevention

Break the cycle.Build what comes next.

The Domino Affect helps young people and families address the roots of violence through mental health support, stronger relationships, resource access, and resilient communities.

One supported young person can begin a chain reaction for a family, a neighborhood, and a generation.

Where the cycle begins

Violence grows where support is missing.

When mental health care, stable family connections, essential resources, or a clear path home are absent, the gaps compound. We step into those gaps with practical support built around healing, accountability, and opportunity.

Our north star

Our mission and vision for lasting change.

Our work is grounded in the source commitments established by The Domino Affect: address root causes, support healing, strengthen families, and build resilient communities.

Mission

Create safer communities by addressing the root causes of violence.

Our mission is to create safer communities by addressing the root causes of violence through comprehensive mental health support, strengthening family dynamics, addressing barriers to resources, and fostering community resilience. We are committed to empowering individuals and families with the tools and resources they need to overcome challenges, heal from trauma, and build a foundation of peace and well-being for future generations.

Vision

A global society where every individual is supported.

We envision a global society where every individual is supported by strong mental health resources, nurtured by healthy family relationships, protected by just and equitable systems, and empowered by a connected and resilient community. Through our collective efforts, we strive to eliminate violence and cultivate environments where safety, healing, and positive growth are accessible to all.

A letter from our Chief Impact Officer

“I wanted to turn pain into purpose.”

The Domino Affect was born in 2021 from Dominique Whipple’s experience as a survivor of gun violence and a need to understand the root causes behind the choices people make.

What she found was a common thread: the absence of something vital. Whether it is resources, education, family, or support, unmet needs can lead individuals and families into difficult situations.

The Domino Affect exists to address those gaps, uplift communities, and create a safer, more hopeful future for the next generation. We believe pain can have a purpose when it is transformed into healing and progress.

“I challenge you to utilize your pain to be a link to the chain of change.”
